We Support Measure 300

 

We, the undersigned, believe the people of Telluride deserve a direct say in major development projects that will shape the future of our community. Measure 300 is a commonsense amendment to the Town Charter that ensures:

​

• Voter approval is required for large-scale town government projects or town partnerships with other governmental agencies.

• Voter approval for rezoning to allow significant new commercial uses.

• Voter approval for any extension of town water to new commercial and significant residential developments outside town boundaries.

 

Current state law already requires a public vote on long-term debt and new taxes, and Measure 300 closes a legal loophole that the town has repeatedly used to avoid public votes on its recent projects, which all incurred significant long-term debt.

 

Measure 300 ensures accountability, transparency, and community input in decisions that have lasting impacts on our community.
