The Town Council is currently studying the feasibility of developing a parking structure, affordable housing, and ancillary uses such as transit-oriented commercial uses on Lot L of the Backman Village Subdivision (Lot L).

There is no doubt that on busy weekends, the need for parking in Town is at a very high demand. That said, a parking lot of this size will dramatically change the nature and feel of Town forever. The convenience of allowing so much parking may well be offset by the increase in traffic in Town and the substantial change of having a building this large on the edge of Town. We are not saying whether this is a good or a bad idea, but surely the development of this magnitude deserves voters having the right to say yes or no.
